When I was a kid we used to go to Southampton to watch the local fireworks show on the fourth. My father would treat us to a DQ (Dairy Queen for the uninitiated) and we would park really far away because he wanted to avoid traffic. I remember sitting on the metal bleachers listening to a cover band perform Neil Diamond and Bruce Springsteen hits in anticipation of the fireworks. The funny thing is, as spectacular as the fireworks always seem to be, I never really remember them unless I have photographs. And what I remember most of all is the time I spend with family each holiday... and that my dad would always finish my ice cream for me.
Wishing everyone a happy fourth of July!
