For anyone who hasn't seen this... I just think it's amazing! A student at MIT decided that he would like to launch a camera to space and see what he could capture using photography. Armed with an idea, and a self-made device costing him only $148, he captured some really cool images.
I found his story inspirational for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, it shows imagination, and secondly it demonstrates that if something means a lot to you, that you work towards that goal. You also cannot be afraid to push yourself beyond what is comfortable. I think about this whenever I think of a new personal photography project. I try to figure out a way to shoot something new and different. I like the challenge of trying to see and capture something/someone in a new way. Additionally, space photography has always been fascinating to me. Capturing images of amazing parts of our world and universe that most of us will never see with our own eyes is incredible to me.
